My First Blog Post

Hello! For my first blog post, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Ashley, I am from New Jersey and I am 24 years old. I am a Business Analyst full time. I grew up playing all different sports. I started with gymnastics when I was 3 and continued until I was around 12 years old. Looking back, I was pretty good! I received third in the state when I was 8 years old. I was constantly getting injured and the gym I went to was quite far away. I ended up switching to a closer but not as competitive gym. I was there for a few years but I eventually ended up quitting to be able to hangout with friends and try other sports.

After gymnastics, I played lacrosse. I as well as my family fell in love with the sport. My older cousin played in college and therefor, I made it my goal to play in college too. Since lacrosse is a spring sport, I tried other sports in the other seasons. I played soccer, volleyball and ran sprints in track.

I played on a club team for lacrosse which helped me get recruited. I played at a division 1 school for two and a half years and ended up quitting on my 21st birthday. I love the sport of lacrosse, but when it is what you sleep and breath, it can be overwhelming and the love of the game can be forgotten. During my time playing lacrosse, I learned so many valuable things. First, I would have to wake up around 4:30 for 6am practice and to put the goals on the field. Waking up that early made me realize how much time there can be in a day if you wake up early. I also learned how to lift. This is an extremely valuable lesson that I learned because it made me realize I have a passion for lifting. Once I stopped playing lacrosse, I call that the beginning of my fitness journey because it is the time I was not required to run or workout for a sport. I was by myself and I got to decide how to better myself.
